After 20 years in the tyre industry, Jeff and Michelle Schmidt became the proud franchisees of the JAX Townsville store. "I worked with JAX Tyres in their Queensland wholesale division for many years before heading to Pirelli Tyres Australia taking on the position of State Manager and National Truck Tyre Manager" Jeff says. "Michelle also has a retail background and has always liked wheels."
The couple has re-identified the showroom, installing new flooring and giving the store a coat of paint. “We’ve also got up-to-date womens’ magazines and Michelle on the front desk which makes our female customers feel welcome” Jeff says. “Ladies are a very important part of our customer mix. It’s amazing how many women are in here purchasing tyres” Michelle says.
The couple, who have five girls enjoy the fast paced store environment. “We’re loving the retail challenge. People like the way we do business and we have plenty of repeat customers as a result” Jeff says.
